GPS Tracking Allows LEK Technology To Maintain Honesty And Integrity Among Employees And Customers

We caught up with Cheri DeRamus of LEK Technology Group to learn how Teletrac’s software is helping improve efficiency and honesty among their employees and customers.   

Teletrac: Why did your company originally choose to use GPS tracking?

Cheri: To keep our employees honest; to not say they are at work when they are really at the house. It has also helped me on my service call side because I have had some of my customers not want to pay my rate. I have had [a customer] say [my worker] wasn’t there [at the job site] that long, so I have had to pull a report from my GPS system to prove to my customer my vehicle was there from this time to this time.

Additionally, it helps with my dispatching. If I have a call from a customer asking if [we] can do [a job] today, I’ll pull up my GPS and see where my guy is at—[if he is near the site], then I can dispatch him. It is very helpful on that. And I love that part about [the system].

Teletrac: What did Teletrac offer that the other companies did not?

Cheri: The discount for my insurance. You are the only company out there that I will get a discount for using your product. That’s very important. That is going to save me money. Right now I have seven of your units on seven of my vehicles. So I’m going to get a discount from my vehicle insurance just by having [your hardware] on my vehicles.

Teletrac: What other benefits do you see that Teletrac provides your company?

Cheri: I have printed out a week’s worth on one vehicle right now because I had some guys work out of state last week. Their timesheet didn’t [match] with what they were saying. I had four men in one truck and they hit me with eight hours of travel time, when it really only took five hours. That’s four guys at three hours and that’s going to add up really quick.

So I’m going to use my printout of my detailed report for that whole week to adjust their timesheets off of that.

Teletrac: How has technology affected the way your fleet runs?

Cheri: There is so much out there now. Thank goodness for the GPS units that come onboard. Even when I was [taking a demo of Teletra’s system], I didn’t realize there were [additional] things you could put on the system like your tools, your equipment, to [track] them as well. So that was like a whole new ball game for me. We hadn’t even moved that route yet. I think stuff like that is just awesome and amazing.

Teletrac: What other areas has Teletrac served you and your business?

Cheri: I’m very happy with Teletrac. The customer service is outstanding. If I email someone, they’ll email me back or [give me] a phone call. If they don’t answer the phone when I call and leave a message, they call me back usually within 30 minutes. Customer service is very important in a business. And everyone [at Teletrac] has been super friendly. They have gone above and beyond to make sure my company is happy. The units are working and we have everything we need. I [also] love the training that they offer [with] the videos and the webinars. Even though my computer [has technical problems], everyone [at Teletrac] is sending me links to read over this, or watch this, so I think everyone has gone above and beyond to teach me all about [Teletrac’s] software and about the product, and make sure I’m comfortable using it.
